Has led development of national ICT policies, strategies and master plans including the roadmap for migration from analogue to digital TV in Kenya, the National ICT Policy, the National Broadband Strategy and the Kenya Digital Economy Blueprint for Africa, among others. Expert in Mobile Broadband and spectrum management policy and regulation.
CEO/Communications Secretary at the National Communications Secretariat (NCS), the statutory ICT Policy advisors to the Government of Kenya through the Ministry of ICT Innovation & Youth Affairs. At NCS, leads a cross-functional team of experts to advise Government on adoption of appropriate ICT policies and strategies and also participates and chairs performance contracting negotiations between the Government and several state corporations in MoICT.
Involved in various ITU activities including chairing the African Group and was also Vice Chairman at the ITU RA-15 and WRC-15. At RA-19 was elected to 2nd term as chair of ITU Radiocommunication Advisory Group (RAG). Was part of the Steering Committee for the Conference. Vice-Chairman of National Preparatory Committee for RA-19 and WRC-19.
In 2015, awarded the Head of State Commendation (HSC) by His Excellency The President of the Republic of Kenya in recognition of distinguished and outstanding services rendered to the Nation in the ICT sector.
Holds an MSc in Engineering Management from the University of Southern California, USA; a BSc (Hons-Telecoms) from the University of Nairobi and other diplomas and certificates.
Co-Founder and CEO, Twiga Foods
Peter Njonjo is Co-Founder and CEO of Twiga Foods, a company that aggregates informal retail demand and organizes an efficient supply chain for fresh and dry goods through a technology enabled B2B platform.
Prior to taking up his current role, Peter spent 21 years with The Coca-Cola Company with his last role being President of the West and Central Africa Business Unit, made up of 33 countries, based in Lagos, Nigeria. He also led the acquisition of Chi Beverages Nigeria in a $550M transaction.
Previously, Njonjo also led the Coca-Cola business in East Africa, overseeing six countries including Kenya. In this role, he stewarded investments of more than $1 billion over five years and led the restructuring of Coca-Cola’s route to market across East Africa. He also led bottling mergers and acquisition activities across the region, including serving on the global team that created Africa’s largest Coca-Cola bottler – Coca-Cola Beverages Africa.
Njonjo was President of the American Chamber of Commerce in Kenya, a director of the American Business Council in Nigeria and has been voted among the top 100 young leaders in Africa by Forbes Afrique and “Top 40 under 40” by The Business Daily in Kenya.
A native of Kenya, Njonjo holds a Master of Business Administration in Strategic Management, a Bachelor of Science degree in International Business Administration from United States International University in Kenya and an Executive Leadership Program from Harvard Business School. Njonjo is also a Certified Public Accountant.
Senior Business Development Leader, Merchant Sales & Acquiring, VISA
Kennedy Luhombo serves in the merchant sales and solutions team at Visa in East Africa. In this role, Kennedy Luhombo is responsible for acquiring business relationships and ensures the growth of Visa acceptance at merchant locations in the 13 countries falling under East Africa. Kennedy Luhombo reports to Senior Business Development Leader for Sub Sahara Africa, Delaine Patrick, who works from South Africa office.
Kennedy has been at Visa for just over a year, having joined in April of 2017. Kennedy previously worked at Safaricom and Airtel Kenya. At Safaricom, he was business development manager for merchant solutions for M-PESA, while at Airtel, he headed Airtel Money Sales and Distribution team.
Kennedy is a digital payments enthusiast who believes payments should evolve to keep pace with consumer convenience, and embrace enablement of transaction initiation from any gadget, be it a phone, a card, a smartwatch, a TV, etc. Payments must evolve from a task that involves somewhere you go, to just something you do
Kennedy holds a Master’s degree from the University of Nairobi and received his undergraduate degree from Moi University, both in Kenya.
